Before our show last night with Big & Rich, we did this little warmup in the greenroom! Hope you enjoy it!
The final month of 2014 for us proved to be a lot of fun! The tour schedule took us from Eastern South Dakota (Wiley’s Tavern) all the way to Milwaukee Wisconsin (Red Rock Saloon) and everywhere in between. We truly love being able to get out on the road and perform in front of new audiences to get our brand of country music out there!
Couple highlights include performing to a near capacity crowd at Wiley’s Tavern in Sioux Falls. The venue, management, staff, and crowd are really first class and we can’t wait to be back there again soon. We will be back at Wiley’s soon, stay tuned to our website for news.
Another highlight was performing in Milwaukee for the 2nd time ever for us. Red Rock Saloon is right downtown Milwaukee and they do not lack in the partying department. And the women are just crazy here….in a good way of course! The fans there are phenomenal and people seemed to really dig our original music! Shout out to James Allen for being one of the best DJs we've had the opportunity to work with, don't get too distracted man ;)!
After the Milwaukee show we hopped in the van and headed to Drew’s parents’ house in Waukegan Illinois to spend the night. This may be the 2nd or 3rd time we have done this and trust me…it is always a guaranteed party. Let me paint a picture of what this Maiden Dixie after party looks like. We pull in to Drew’s parents at about 3:15am and they always have pizza, liquor, and beer ready for us along with tons of small air mattresses in the basement setup for us to sleep. However, sleep barely occurs. Drew challenges everyone to a “shot” contest slamming everything they can find from Bourbon to high-dollar tequila. Needless to say I don’t think we have ever fallen asleep there until we have seen the sun coming up.
We also got the awesome opportunity to perform in Winona, MN for the first time in our careers at the LIVE @ the Levee Christmas Show. From the heated tent to the amazing food and local art vendors all the way to the amazing listening crowd that was tuned in to our original music. Thank you Winona for being so appreciative and attentive to our original music! We made many, many new friends there and sold over 25 copies of our album. Special Shout out to Robert Pack & Winona State University’s radio station KQAL for doing a live taping of the show and interview with us.
And last but not least, we can’t forget about our New Year’s Eve show at Mystic Lake Casino! What a way to ring in 2015 with so many people around the casino floor watching, listening, and dancing to our music! We can’t thank Mystic Lake enough for having us. They said it is their busiest night of the year on New Year’s Eve. Who woulda thought that people want to gamble to start a new year!! Special thank you to all who purchased our debut album, “Little Black Dress” that night. We were blown away when we sold more than 40 copies of it in one night.
Looking ahead to 2015 we are extremely excited to announce we have taken a lot of time off in January here to be back in the recording studio to work on a new album for you guys slated to be out around April 2015. We can’t be more excited to be working and recording locally in Minneapolis for this album with local producer Kevin Bowe. Kevin is a long-time, very well-known musician and producer in the Minneapolis metro producing most recently for Jonny Lang and The Replacements. Pre-production for the album has been a blast thus far and we can’t be more excited to show you guys the music we have been working on! Stay tuned to maidendixie.com and continue to follow us on Facebook for exciting announcements about this new music and new album!
SPECIAL December Story from the road:
(One funny story here for all you Channing fans. She may or may not kill me for this, but last time we rolled in to Waukegan Illinois to Drew’s parents’ house super late in the night she was (we both were) slightly inebriated. We got to the front door and obviously Drew’s parents are sleeping at this point. We tried opening the door as quietly as possible to not disturb the elders. Well that’s when the chananigans began. Chan accidentally puts her hand on the doorbell and it’s as loud as can be. I remember trying not to laugh my ass off and Channing was giggling hard too. Drew was not impressed.)
“Without you guys, the fans, our shows would just be one long, boring soundcheck. We love you all and thank you for supporting our dreams” -Jesse "Party Bus" Becker
